How does using electricity at home harm the environment?

hi, i'm doing a project on global warming and i'm wondering if using electricity at home makes an effect on the environment, i'm sure a long some lines it does, but i need to how and why and i can't seem to find any good information about it . i'm really after facts, figures, and statistics but a quote is good too. Also i need another fact about how much energy a house consumes per year . if u can't help with the above then thanks! please reply fast because i need to finish this project for tomorrow - my deadline . thanks anyhow :P
